Frequently Asked Questions
What is budget billing?
When you sign up for budget billing, the amount you pay each month is the average of your previous 12 months. It gives you more predictable bills by avoiding spikes caused by seasonal changes in how much energy you use.
How is budget billing calculated?
You have two budget billing options, variable budget billing and fixed budget billing.
Variable budget billing means your budget payment (or average) is recalculated each month. This way you won't have a traditional catch-up month. Typically the average may fluctuate $5 to $10, but you will always know "about" how much your bill will be.
We also offer fixed budget billing as an option. The fixed amount is calculated based on the last twelve months average. You will recieve a credit in July for the catch up month.
Any overpayments automatically credit to the budget amount due for the next month.
Can I pay ahead on my budget amount due?
Yes. If you want to pay ahead while you are away from your home you can certainly do that. Your monthly bill will indicate a credit balance in the budget amount due. You'll want to be sure to make a payment before that credit balance is gone.

What happens if I miss a budget payment?
In order to participate in the budget billing program, payment must be received by the due date. If your payment is not posted before your next bill is calculated, you will be charged a penalty and be removed from budget. This may place your account up for disconnect.
