Tipmont REMC’s EnviroWatts program is funding two Wabash River programs with grants totaling $13,975. Of that, $9,975 goes to the Wabash River Enhancement Corp., and $4,000 to Banks of the Wabash.

The Wabash River Enhancement Corp. will use its funds to purchase 133 rain barrels, stands and downspout diverters, which will be sold to landowners at 25-percent of cost, said Sara Peel, watershed program director. It will also provide educational programs.

Tipmont REMC’s latest round of grants brings to more than 500 the total number it has awarded since it began two programs, one in 1999 and the other in 2001.
